Filipino Community’s Nation-Building Summit in Abu Dhabi Highlights Community Leadership

ABU DHABI 21 September 2018 – Over three hundred Filipino community leaders attended the Leadership Summit 2018 on 07 September 2018 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Hjayceelyn M. Quintana highlighted the importance of leadership specially in a big community like the Filipino community in the country. She pondered upon the concept of leadership in the Filipino community setting and encouraged strengthening the foundation of the Bayanihan Council. 

Ambassador Quintana also conveyed her gratitude to the organizing committee, led by Bayanihan Council Chairman Engineer Elmer Casao and Leadership Summit 2018 Chairman Allen Samonte.

The Summit was attended by officers and advisers of the Bayanihan Executive Board, leaders and representatives of different member-organizations under the Bayanihan Council, and Embassy officials.  As a growing community, the Bayanihan Council is ensuring that its leaders learn and acquire leadership skills so as to be able to provide efficient service to their fellowmen and take the community to greater heights.

With the theme, “Today’s Filipino Community Leaders, Tomorrow’s Nation Builders”, a distinguished array of speakers delivered talks on servant leadership, strategic leadership, social leadership, and situational leadership.

A synthesis workshop was also held to establish commitments from Filipino community leaders to ensure the growth of their respective organizations, contribute to the community they belong to, and contribute to nation building.

The event, now on its 2nd edition, was organized by the Bayanihan Council, the umbrella organization of Filipino organizations in Abu Dhabi. END
