PH Institute of Civil Engineers–Brunei Chapter Hosts 7th International Technical Conference

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 26 September 2018 —The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE)–Brunei Chapter hosted the Seventh International Technical Conference (ITC) on 22-23 August 2018 at the Kiulap Hotel, Kiulap, Bandar Seri Begawan.

With the theme “Technical Depth – New Trends in Innovation for Global Construction,” this years’ conference aimed to provide an avenue for PICE members to discuss vital issues that affect civil engineering practice today, acquire up-to-date information on new technologies that will enhance their professional competencies, and foster camaraderie among the PICE international chapters.

The International Technical Conference is held in a yearly rotation among the 11 PICE International Chapters around the globe. Attendees to the conference are Filipino civil engineers from the Philippines, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and the United States of America (the latest country to establish a PICE International Chapter).

“I commend the officers and members of the PICE-Brunei Chapter for successfully organizing the conference and hope that the participants to the conference gained new and useful knowledge that would enhance their skills as civil engineers,” Chargé d’ Affaires Pete Raymond V. Delfin said during the Fellowship Night on 22 August 2018, where he served as Guest of Honor.

Delfin added that the Embassy fully supports the activities organized by Filipino Community organizations, including conferences and seminars that improves their skills in their profession and at the same time, strengthens fellowship among the Filipino nationals in Brunei Darussalam.

Other guests included PICE National officials represented by Dr. Ernesto S. de Castro, Phd., officials from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Philippine Technological Council (PTC), Pertubuhan Ukur Jurutera & Arkitek (PUJA), the counterpart of PTC in Brunei, and the Filipino Association in Brunei.
