PH Consulate General in Sydney Promotes PH Cuisine at the Taste of PH Food Festival

SYDNEY 26 September 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney, along with the Department of Tourism Sydney Office and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) Sydney, attended the opening of the Taste of the Philippines Food Festival at Café Mix, Shangri-la Hotel on 20 September 2018.
“We wish to thank Shangri-la Hotel, Sydney, Philippine Airlines and the Department of Tourism- Sydney for celebrating the flavors of Filipino food and for the opportunity to bring in three Filipino chefs from Shangri-la Makati to prepare Filipino cuisine for us. It is said that food, like language, expresses the soul and spirit of a people. Tonight and for the next nine days, we would like to share the Filipino spirit through our cuisine” Consul General in Sydney Maria Teresa L. Taguiang said.
Café Mix served authentic Philippine cuisine such as adobo, lechon, chicken inasal, bagnet ilocano, dinakdakan, bagnet binagoongan, sisig, and ginataang sugpo, as well as delectable Filipino desserts such as halo-halo, turon, leche flan, and bibingka.
Various Philippine food products were displayed such as sauces and mixes, tropical fruit products, craft spirits and liquors, and snack items such as dried mangoes, banana chips, coconut products, among others, prepared PTIC Sydney, headed by Trade Attache Alma Argayoso.
Meanwhile, Tourism Attache Norjamin Delos Reyes promoted the reopening of Boracay as a Philippine tourist destination.
The Philippine Food Festival in Sydney will run from 20 to 30 September 2018. END
