PH Embassy in Austria Awards Bugtungan Winners

VIENNA 26 September 2018 – In celebration of this year’s Buwan ng Wika last August, the Philippine Embassy and Permanent Mission in Vienna awarded two Filipinos for winning in the “Bugtungan” contest for visitors of its Facebook page.
Bryan Abaya and Louie Evangelista, who are both residents of Vienna, garnered a perfect score of eight points in the said contest that ran throughout the month of August.
The Embassy published two “bugtong” or Filipino riddles per week on its Facebook page, and invited all visitors to post their answers in the comments section. Each correct reply is equivalent to a point.
In recognition of their achievement, Abaya and Evangelista were awarded prizes and certificates by Ambassador to Austria Maria Cleofe R. Natividad during the opening of the “Lakbay Sining (Art in Motion)” exhibit at the Embassy on 12 September 2018.
In order to show its appreciation to all who participated in the “Bugtungan”, the Embassy will also award everyone who got at least one point in the contest with a Certificate of Appreciation, which they can claim at the Embassy.
The “Bugtungan” is one of the cultural diplomacy initiatives of the Embassy in its continuing effort to promote the beauty and uniqueness of Philippine culture to Filipinos and other foreign nationals throughout its jurisdiction. END
