VIENNA 26 September 2018 — A part of the it’s cultural diplomacy initiative, Ambassador to Austria Maria Cleofe R. Natividad opened the “Lakbay Sining” (Art in Motion) art exhibit at the Philippine Embassy in Vienna on 12 September 2018.

The exhibit aims to showcase the innate talent of Filipino artists to the Austrian and Filipino audience.

The embassy co-organized the event with Filipino artist Sonia Zerrudo, and features the works of Mr. Norlito “Norlie” Meimban, together with other Filipino artists from the Hong Kong-based group Lakbay Dangal.

Mr. Meimban recently had a successful show at Vienna’s Kunsthaus a week prior.

The exhibit is also fortunate to include a sculpture and two art prints from National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera.

To showcase another form of art, Filipino baritone Joseleo Logdat entertained the guests with Italian and German opera pieces, as well as a Filipino kundiman during the event. Later in the evening, everyone partook of traditional Filipino snacks that served to highlight the country’s rich culinary art form.

Building upon this project, the Embassy also conducted masterclasses in drawing, porcelain painting and mobile phone photography.

The exhibit ran from 12 to 14 September 2018 in the Embassy, before it transferred to the United Nations Office in Vienna from 17 to 19 September 2018 during the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). END
