Filipinos to Compete in BIMPNT-EAGA Games

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 27 September 2018 – Filipino athletes from Mindanao and Palawan will compete in eight events at the tenth Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Northern Territory-East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMPNT-EAGA) Friendship Games to be hosted by Brunei Darussalam in December this year.

Philippine Embassy in Brunei Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Pete Raymond V. Delfin recently met with Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports official Mariam binti Ulat to discuss Philippine participation in the sports event. Three Philippine teams (Davao, Mindanao and Palawan) will compete with other youth athletes from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Northern Territory (Australia) in the games.

With the theme “Cooperation Through Sports,” the tenth BIMPNT-EAGA Friendship Games will feature sports such as athletics, swimming, lawn bowling, karatedo (kata), sepak takraw, pencak silat (seni), taekwondo, and wushu.

Embassy Cultural and Information Officer Rose Paz Narvaja-Cornista, and Political and Economic Assistant Frederick A. Rili attended the said meeting.

Bruneian officials who were also present during the meeting were Youth and Sports Officer Siti Hadinahwati binti Hj Abd Majid and Youth and Sports Officer Bakhtiar bin Haji Buntan.  

The BIMPNT-EAGA Youth Exchange Programme will also be held in Bandar Seri Begawan on 05-10 December 2018 in conjunction with the Friendship Games. END
