PH Consul General in Dubai Highlights ASEAN Business Opportunities at Sharjah-ASEAN Business Roundtable

DUBAI 01 October 2018 – Consul General in Dubai Paul Raymund P. Cortes delivered a presentation on ASEAN Business Opportunities at the Sharjah-ASEAN Business Roundtable on 20 September 2018 in Sharjah, UAE.

In his presentation, Consul General Cortes highlighted the efforts being undertaken by ASEAN and its member-countries towards greater economic integration and increasing investment and trade opportunities with the global community.

Shorooq’s Executive Chairman Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal discussed Sharjah’s attractiveness for foreign direct investment noting its reputation in the UAE as the country’s industrial, education and logistics hub.

The event was hailed a success for presenting an excellent opportunity for both sides to increase engagements with each other. It gave the ASEAN business community, including the growing number of Filipino-owned businesses in the UAE, to network with their counterparts in Sharjah.

The Roundtable, organized by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, or more commonly known as Shorooq, the ASEAN Missions in Dubai and the ASEAN Business Councils in the UAE Alliance, was attended by top industry leaders in the Emirate of Sharjah as well as representatives from both the ASEAN diplomatic and consular missions in the UAE and their respective business councils.

For the emirate, it became a platform for its government and industry to demonstrate its desire to further engage ASEAN. END
