The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw took part in the 25th edition of a yearly clean-up drive in one of Poland’s major rivers on 21 September 2018.

Along with other Embassy personnel, Philippine Ambassador to Warsaw Patricia Ann V. Paez took part in collecting non-biodegradable materials around the banks of Vistula River. Their finds included mostly of bottles, plastic bags, bottle caps, and cigarette butts.

The “Clean Up the World” program began as an initiative to clean up the Sydney Harbour in 1989. Since then, it has grown remarkably with other countries around the world mounting their own similar grassroots-based campaign.

The campaign aims to draw attention on one day of the year to human’s collective environmental responsibility.

This year’s program was organized by Fundcja Nasza Ziemia with the support of Australian Embassy. Participants included representative from different embassies, volunteers, and non-governmental organization members. (Warsaw PE photos)
