PH Historian Holds Lecture on PH Peso for Filipinos in Moscow

MOSCOW 11 October 2018 – The Filipino Community in Russia were treated to a special lecture on Philippine currency by the renowned Philippine historian Dr. Ambeth R. Ocampo at the Philippine Embassy in Moscow on 06 October 2018.

Dr. Ocampo’s lecture tackled the history of Philippine currency and included anecdotes and trivia on various foreign currencies. The audience, comprised mostly of overseas Filipino workers, found the topic appealing and many questions were raised in the lively open forum.

“We’re very pleased to be able to present this special lecture with Dr. Ambeth Ocampo to our Filipino Community. It’s not so often that we get to have guests from the academe and it was a particularly enriching experience for our kababayans who came to our Kapihan,” Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta said.

The event is part of the Embassy’s “Kapihan sa Pasuguan” series for 2018 and the third in the series of lectures conducted by Dr. Ocampo in Russia with the support of the Philippine National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
