PH Informs UN of Country Approach to Drug Problem

NEW YORK 18 October 2018 – The Philippines underscored its achievements in the fight against illegal drugs during the Third Committee General Discussion on International Drug Control at the United Nations in New York on 04 October 2018.
“The operations have dismantled 192 dens and clandestine laboratories, arrested more than 143,000 drug personalities and rescued almost 700 minors,” Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin Jr., Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations, said in his statement, citing the 99,000 drug operations conducted as of April this year.
Ambassador Locsin added that in the pursuit of the primary state obligation to protect is population, there is no authority anywhere in the globe that is superior to the State that can stop it from doing its duty.
The Third Committee began its work on 02 October 2018 to discuss social, humanitarian, and human rights issues. END
