PH Embassy in Brunei Attends Send Off for Military Contingent to PH, Lebanon

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 01 October 2018 Philippine Embassy in Brunei officials led by Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. Pete Raymond V. Delfin and Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Colonel Jose Ricky A. Laniog attended the send-off ceremonies for Brunei’s contingent to the 15th International Monitoring Team (IMT) in Mindanao and to the Malaysian Batallion (MALBATT) 850-6 United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) held at the Bolkiah Garrison in Bandar Seri Begawan on 30 August 2018.

The event was graced by Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Commander Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Police Force Commissioner Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam, members of the Diplomatic Corps, senior officials from Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and RBAF, and family members of the servicemen.

IMT-15 is led by Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Rizal bin Haji Abdul Hadi while UNIFIL 850-6 is headed by Major Daud bin Etim. Brunei Darussalam deployed its first peacekeeping mission in 2004 while the country began sending its military contingent to UNIFIL since 2008.

The Sultanate is committed to the continuing effort towards attaining peace and security in the region in pursuit of UN’s mandate. END
