SINGAPORE 29 October 2018 — Art Trek, a yearly event organized by the Philippine Embassy in Singapore in collaboration with various Singapore galleries and Filipino artists, opened its fourth and fifth exhibitions on 30 September 2018 at the Pinta Contemporary and on 03 October 2018 at Taksu Gallery, respectively.
Ambassador to Singapore Joseph Del Mar Yap graced the opening of the exhibition at Taksu Gallery, while Consul General Victorio Mario M. Dimagiba Jr. represented the Ambassador during the opening of the exhibition at Pinta Contemporary.
Dengcoy Miel, a long-time Filipino supporter of Art Trek and cartoonist for The Straits Times, co-organized the joint exhibits of visual artist Celeste Quilantang and sculptor Riel Hilario entitled “Even a Cat May Look at a King” and “It Takes the Shape of its Container”, respectively.
Pinta Contemporary was established as a venue for Filipino artists in Singapore to showcase their talent and artwork.
Ms. Quilantang and Mr. Hilario expressed their fascination with their well-loved yet mysterious feline companions, which was a common theme in their artworks.
Meanwhile, Taksu Gallery’s featured artist Lindslee has won numerous recognitions in the Philippines and abroad.
In his exhibition entitled “Physically Present Mentally Absent”, his quirkiness and eclectic style are evident in his contemporary masterpiece using different mediums such as glass, cement, plant, LED light and soil.
Ms. Quilantang and Mr. Hilario’s joint exhibition at Pinta Contemporary will run until 30 October 2018, while Lindslee’s exhibition at Taksu Gallery will be until 28 October 2018. END
