PH Consulate General in San Francisco Hosts PH Cybersecurity Solutions Delegation

SAN FRANCISO 18 October 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco hosted a visiting Philippine Cybersecurity Solutions Delegation at the Philippine Center in San Francisco on 01 October 2018. 

The delegation was on their first stop in a three-city tour of the United States, which also included stops in San Antonio, Texas, and Washington, D.C., to meet with cybersecurity companies and other agencies. As a reverse trade mission, the trip was organized by the United States Embassy in Manila.

The delegation was headed by Information and Communications Technology Assistant Secretary Allan Cabanlog and consisted of representatives from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Department of Budget and Management, Department of Energy, Department of Finance, Governance Commission for GOCCs, Home Development Mutual Fund, National Security Council, Office of the President, Philippine Senate, and the Presidential Communications Operations Office.

The delegates shared that they are visiting the United States to learn best practices pertaining to cyber security which they hope to replicate in the Philippines. They noted that Silicon Valley is the center for innovation, where most of the top cybersecurity solutions providers are located. 

During their call, the Consulate discussed initiatives under the Spark*Connect*Empower movement, including the “SparkUp MeetUp” activities which aim to promote the startup community in the Philippines and link them with networks in Silicon Valley, and Spark447, a co-working hub located at the Philippine Center, which aims to provide a working space for rising entrepreneurs, freelancers, digital nomads and internet professionals.
