Brunei Malay Chamber Invited to Invest in ZAMBOECOZONE

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 05 October 2018 – To boost stronger economic cooperation between the Philippines and Brunei, the Philippine Embassy in Brunei and Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority (ZAMBOECOZONE), the Philippine delegation led by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Pete Raymond V. Delfin, ZAMBOECOZONE Marketing and Enterprise Development Division Officer-in-Charge Marilou Delos Reyes–Vasquez and Business Development Consultant Myl Johann R. Amsid met with Brunei Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) officers at the BMCCI Office in Beribi Industrial Complex 1, Jalan Gadong on 27 September 2018.
BMCCI President Dr. Haji Kamaruddin bin Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, along with other BMCCI officers, welcomed Chargé d’Affaires Delfin and the ZAMBOECOZONE representatives. Officials from Brunei’s Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) were also present during the meeting.
During the meeting, Chargé d’Affaires Delfin conveyed the Philippine Government’s appreciation to BMCCI for receiving government officials and entrepreneurs from the Philippines on 10 August 2018 in conjunction with the Brunei Halal Showcase (BruHAS). He also lauded the strong ties and dynamic cooperation between the Philippines and Brunei within the BIMP-EAGA platform.
The ZAMBOECOZONE representatives echoed the statements of Chargé d’Affaires Delfin and delivered their presentation on investment opportunities in the ZAMBOECOZONE. They highlighted the competitive advantages that the ZAMBOECOZONE can provide to Bruneian businesses as well as their prospects for expansion given that they can manage their enterprises inside the Zone in accordance with Bruneian standards, in addition to the unlimited access of their products to the larger Mindanao market.
The ZAMBOECOZONE’s presentation was followed by a briefing from MoRA representatives on the Halal Certification Process in Brunei Darussalam.
Prior to the meeting with BMCCI, ZAMBOECOZONE representatives made a courtesy call on Chargé d’Affaires Delfin at the Embassy. END
