New Deputy Consul General in Honolulu Administers Oath of Dual Citizens
PHOTO: In a simple yet solemn ceremony, the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu’s new Deputy Consul General Angelica C. Escalona administered the oath of allegiance for 25 dual citizenship aspirants on 11 October 2018.
Deputy Consul General Escalona reminded those taking their oath of their rights and corresponding duties upon reacquisition of Philippine citizenship. She urged them to show love and concern for the Philippines, to be part of the Philippines’ journey of growth as a nation, and to serve as bridges of friendship and understanding between their communities in the Philippines and in Hawaii.
The 25 individuals who took their oath of allegiance ranges from age 33 to 86. Many expressed their desire to live or retire in the Philippines.
The Consulate General conducts oath-taking ceremonies in Honolulu twice a month and on average, 50 Filipino-Americans acquire Philippine citizenship each month. It also conducts oath-taking ceremonies in Kona, Hilo, Kauai, Maui as well as in American Samoa during consular outreach missions.
