PH Army Official Completes Royal Brunei Armed Forces Command and Staff Course

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 29 October 2018 – A Philippine Army official completed with distinction a mid-level course for military officials in Brunei.
Philippine Embassy in Brunei Chargé d’Affaires Pete Raymond V. Delfin lauded Philippine Army Major Franco F. Baylon for completing the Eighth Royal Brunei Armed Forces Command and Staff Course (RBAF) with distinction, following a graduation ceremony held at the RBAF Defence Academy in Kampong Tanah Jambu on 11 October 2018.
Chargé d’Affaires Delfin was joined by the Embassy’s Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Colonel Jose Ricky A. Laniog.
Major Baylon ranked fifth out of the 31 students coming from 13 countries including Brunei, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Philippines.
He also completed the Requirements for Master’s in International Security facilitated by Massey University of New Zealand.
Chargé d’Affaires Delfin commended Major Baylon for his accomplishments and for representing the Philippines in the course, demonstrating the country’s unwavering commitment to maintain strong bilateral defense cooperation with Brunei Darussalam.
Brunei’s Second Minister of Defence Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, who graced the graduation ceremony as guest of honor, congratulated the 31 graduates of the RBAF CSC. He emphasized that the course has been an integral part of bolstering Brunei’s defence diplomacy.
The RBAF Command and Staff Course is a 40-week course program that aims to broaden the professional and academic knowledge of mid-level officers as well as to develop their command, analytical and communication skills in preparation for higher appointments.
Aside from the international participants, this year’s attendees included officers from RBAF, Royal Brunei Police Force, and the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei Darussalam. END
