PH Consul General Promotes PH-Nebraska Relations

CHICAGO 05 November 2018 – To promote stronger relations between the Philippines and the Cornhusker State, Consul General in Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin called on Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts on 24 October 2018.
Accompanied by Mayor Rita Sanders of Bellevue, Nebraska, who is of Filipino descent, and Filipino Community leaders, Consul General Jamoralin discussed possible avenues of cooperation with Nebraska, including a Sister State relationship with a complementary Philippine province as a platform for closer people-to-people, academic and economic exchanges.
She also shared that the thriving population of around 5,000-strong Filipino and Filipino-American Community in Nebraska represents the promise of collaboration in meeting the state’s growing demands for manpower, particularly in the health care industry.
Consul General Jamoralin’s meeting with Governor Ricketts followed her presentation at the University of Nebraska–Kearney James E. Smith Midwest Conference on World Affairs and call on U.S. Representative Don Bacon in Omaha. END
