San Francisco NAFFAA

SAN FRANCISCO 08 November 2018 — Aimed to raise funds for a medical mission to be undertaken by Mending Faces, which helps children in the Philippines born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other deformities, the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NAFFAA) Region 5 held a benefit gala on 13 October 2018 at the Double Tree by Hilton DTC in Greenwood Village, Colorado, USA.

The event was also held to celebrate Filipino-American History Month, the 20th year anniversary of NAFFAA Region 5 and to induct their new officers, led by incoming Chair Gloria Williams.

The event was attended by members from NAFFAA’s umbrella organizations from its Region 5, consisting of Colorado, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.

Consul Jed Martin A. Llona represented Consul General in San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto Jr. in the event, and commended NAFFAA Region 5 for actively engaging in socio-civic activities that benefit communities in the Philippines, and being an active partner of the Spark*Connect*Empower (SCE) movement by providing avenues that will spark pride among Filipino Americans in their heritage, connecting them with others, and empowering them to become active agents of positive change.

NAFFAA is a non-partisan and non-profit organization, consisting of the largest affiliation of Filipino American institutions, organizations, and individuals.  It is one of 11 “Pioneer Partners” of the SCE movement, being one of the first organizations to partner with the Consulate. END
