SHANGHAI 09 November 2018 — The Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai opened its doors on the last days of Overseas Voting Registration from 29 to 30 September with total of 18 OFWs registered, including three transfers of record.
The registrants said they were encouraged by the Consulate’s announcement and the various calls on social media for OFWs to register during the last days.
“It was a good turnout despite the dates being the weekend prior to the week-long Chinese national day holiday when most Shanghai residents take their annual holiday outside the city,” according to Consul General Wilfredo R. Cuyugan.
Since the beginning of the registration on 01 December 2016, the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai has submitted to COMELEC more than 600 applications for Overseas Voting, for the May 2019 National Elections. END
