PARIS 09 November 2018 – On the occasion of the European Union's Anti-Trafficking Day, the Philippine Embassy in France attended a seminar on the Role of Diplomatic Staff in the Protection of Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings held on 18 October 2018 at the Maison de la Recherche in Paris, France.
Organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) France, more than 50 attendees were present during the seminar, including the diplomatic representatives serving in Paris, representatives from the French government, and a French NGO.
The seminar was divided into three phases: facts, figures and the recent evolutions of human trafficking; assistance available to victims of human trafficking in France; and a roundtable on the best practices of the various diplomatic representations based in Paris.
All the speakers highlighted the best practices in the protection of victims, prosecution of traffickers, and prevention of the phenomenon in partnership with other key actors.
This is the first seminar conducted by IOM France to ensure that diplomatic and consular staff are sensitive in identifying potential victims in order to direct them to the appropriate services in France based on their individual needs. END
