ASEAN Committee in The Hague Visits Dutch Maritime Centers of Excellence

THE HAGUE 09 November 2018 –  In its continuing effort to explore various opportunities in its relations and expand other areas of cooperation with The Netherlands, the ASEAN Committee in The Hague (ACTH) visited SIMWAVE, a Dutch maritime center of excellence on 10 October 2018 in Rotterdam, the Dutch maritime centers of excellence.

SIMWAVE is a fully-certified maritime center of excellence offering 59 state-of-the art, high-end simulators, e.g., cruise bridge with docking view, engine room simulators and high voltage, offshore simulators to train or assess seafaring crews of the world’s leading maritime institutes and shipping companies, the Philippines included.

The ACTH delegation was welcomed by Mr. Eric Hietbrink and Mr. Thanh Sen Do, SIMWAVE’s Technical Director and Manager for research and mathematic modelling, respectively.

In his brief presentation, Mr. Hietbrink emphasized SIMWAVE’s vision and mission through better knowledge, improved skills and enhanced attitude among its trainees, students and participants in its various courses. 

Mr. Hietbrink also cited the Philippines as the world’s leading, if not world’s number one source of seafarers and SIMWAVE’s role in the establishment of Palompon Leyte Maritime Institute that gives education and training to maritime students in Northwestern Leyte the international quality and standards and help supply competent seafarers to the maritime industry of the world.
