PH Consulate General in HK Joins El Shaddai-HK Jubilee Fete

HONG KONG 08 October 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong showed its support for the Filipino Community by joining the thanksgiving festivities marking the 30th anniversary of the Hong Kong chapter of El Shaddai DWXI Prayer Partners Fellowship International (El Shaddai) at the Hong Kong Stadium on 30 September 2018.
Consul General in Hong Kong Antonio A. Morales commended the more than 2,000 Filipinos who attended the event for being law-abiding residents of Hong Kong and contributing to the betterment of the lives of their families and the country. He also praised them for organizing their community in Hong Kong.
Other members of the Consulate General who joined the festivities are Deputy Consul General Roderico C. Atienza and Consul Paulo V. Saret, who gave courtesy readings of the Bible during the Holy Mass, celebrated by Manila auxiliary bishop and El Shaddai spiritual adviser Most Rev. Teodoro C. Bacani Jr. with the assistance of Hong Kong-based chaplains Fr. Jay Francis Flandez and Fr. Andrew de Vera.
El Shaddai, Hebrew for God Almighty, is the biggest Catholic charismatic movement in the Philippines. Established by Brother Mike Velarde in 1981, El Shaddai has a reported membership of nine million members in the Philippines—more than 10 percent of the country’s Catholic population—and two million among the expatriate Filipino Community.
