HONG KONG 07 November 2018 – In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, in partnership with the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation (HKBCF), organized and sponsored a free breast screening session, mammogram services, and talk on breast health at the Consulate General’s Chancery on 28 October 2018.
This is the second time the Consulate General organized such a session under its 2018 breast health program for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), which aims to promote health and wellness among members of the Filipino Community in Hong Kong. The first session was held in Ngau Chi Wan, Kowloon on 28 January 2018, also in partnership with HKBCF.
A total of 87 women household service workers (HSWs) benefitted from the October session, bringing the total to more than 150 women OFWs receiving free breast health screening in 2018.
The HKBCF was represented by team leader Grace Chung, Senior Health Service Officer, Health Service Officers Li Man Shu, Nicole Ying, and Health Service Assistants Jennifer Tang and Kim Chan.
Ms. Nicole Ying conducted the breast health talk where she discussed symptoms, statistics, and risk factors of breast cancer, as well as how to conduct self-examination and breast cancer treatment. She emphasized the importance of early detection of breast cancer in saving lives.
