Senator Drilon Visits Vienna

VIENNA 08 November 2018 The Philippine Embassy in Vienna welcomed Senate Minority Floor Leader and former Senate President Franklin M. Drilon during his brief visit to Vienna on 25-29 October 2018.

Senator Drilon and his party came from Geneva, Switzerland, where he attended the 139th Assembly and Related Meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

While in Vienna, Senator Drilon together with Ambassador to Austria Maria Cleofe R. Natividad attended the milestone 30th anniversary celebration of the Ilonggo Community in Austria on 27 October 2018.

A native of Iloilo, the former Senate President updated the gathering on the ongoing positive developments in Western Visayas and extolled the organization’s display of unity during his special address.

Before departing for the Philippines, Senator Drilon and his delegation stopped by the Embassy Chancery on 29 October 2018, where they were warmly met by the Embassy’s officers and personnel.

Ambassador Natividad gave the Senator a tour of the diplomatic and consular offices of the Embassy, and briefed him on the mission and vision of the Embassy to be the science diplomacy center of the Philippine Foreign Service.

The highlight of the Chancery visit was the showing of the Embassy video ID, which the eminent parliamentarian enthusiastically watched.

Ambassador Natividad likewise hosted a dinner in honor of Senator Drilon and his party at the official residence on 26 October 2018. END
