New PH Ambassador Arrives in Egypt

CAIRO 23 November 2018 — Ambassador Sulpicio M. Confiado arrived in Cairo on 10 November 2018 to assume his duties as the country’s top envoy to Egypt. He was accompanied by his spouse, Madame Priscila R. Confiado.
Ambassador Confiado served in the Philippine diplomatic missions in New Delhi, Berlin, and Tokyo. Prior to his arrival in Cairo, he served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General at the Philippine Embassy in Vienna from 2015 to 2018, with concurrent position as Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Vienna.
At the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Confiado was assigned in various offices such as Office of Consular Affairs, the Office of Middle East and African Affairs, and Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations.
The Ambassador was also detailed twice to the Office of the President as Deputy Presidential Assistant for Foreign Affairs from 2014 to 2015 and as Deputy Chief of Presidential Protocol in 2012.
Before joining the Philippine foreign service, Ambassador Confiado worked for five years as Director of the Policy Research Support Branch of the National Security Council Secretariat under the Office of the President.
As the Ambassador of the Philippines to Egypt, Ambassador Confiado also holds jurisdiction over the countries of Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Sudan as the country’s non-resident Ambassador. END
