MANAMA 29 November 2018 — The Philippine Embassy in Manama assisted the fifth batch of beneficiaries of the Financial Assistance Program for Filipinos eligible to apply for Flexi Visas by Bahrain’s Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).
A total of 70 formerly out-of-status Filipino workers received their Blue Cards on 19 November 2018 at the Sitra Branch of the LMRA.
All of the said 70 workers received financial assistance from the Embassy for the payment of the application fee of BD449 for their Flexi Visas. The Embassy will also shoulder the payment of their registration fees of BD5, and two months of the required monthly fees of BD30 month or a total of 60BD.
Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver also reminded the newly regularized workers that the new lifeline provided by the Philippine and Bahraini governments entails a responsibility on the part of the beneficiaries to maintain their legal status, and to ensure payment of the rest of the monthly fees until the expiration of their two-year visas.
To date, a total of 318 Filipino workers have benefitted from the joint program of the Embassy and the LMRA.
Former holders of commercial visas who are eligible to apply for the LMRA’s Flexi Visa are encouraged to avail themselves of the opportunity and file their applications as soon as possible.
The last day for these workers to be able to avail of the Embassy’s financial assistance program is on 10 December 2018. END
