PH Supply Chain Expert Promotes Duterte’s Build, Build, Build Agenda

HONG KONG 29 November 2018 – A Philippine expert on supply chains highlighted President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s “Build, Build, Build” agenda as a critical initiative in improving the supply chain infrastructure of the country at the Institute of Purchasing & Supply of Hong Kong (IPSHK) International Conference on 03 November 2018 at the Sheraton Hotel Hong Kong.
Senior Vice President of the Philippine Institute for Supply Management (PISM) Ricky Sison stressed that moving goods between islands in the Philippines is currently a cumbersome and tedious process. However, he was optimistic that the current administration’s political will to boost infrastructure funding will greatly contribute to the supply chain industry in the archipelagic country.
Mr. Sison also said that PISM is offering its resources to the Philippine government in order to find solutions and upgrade the Philippines’ supply chain mechanisms.
The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, represented by Vice Consul Fatima G. Quintin, expressed its commitment to working together with Mr. Sison and PISM in boosting the country’s supply chain and purchasing capabilities through networking and exchange of best practices with other industry stakeholders.
Under the theme “Procurement & Supply Chain: Evolution for Belt & Road Initiative,” the Conference was attended by around 200 supply chain and purchasing practitioners, government officials and consular corps, was also held in celebration of IPSHK’s 45th anniversary.
The event further discussed initiatives on how Hong Kong can play a special and vital role in streamlining and boosting the supply chain and procurement industry in BRI, as well as Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area development strategies.
Other speakers during the Conference included Hong Kong Secretary for Transport and Housing Frank Chan, Chairman of the Silk Road Economic Development Research Centre Joseph Chan, and President of the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management He Liming. END
