MEXICO 29 November 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Mexico joined the city of Acapulco in the celebration of the 12th International La Nao Festival in Acapulco, State of Guerrero, Mexico.

The La Nao is an annual event organized by the municipal government of Acapulco in commemoration of the cultural and historical exchanges borne from the Galleon Trade.

Approximately 600 attendees took part in the opening ceremony, which was held at the Plaza de Armas of the historic museum of Fort San Diego. During the Galleon Trade, the Fort strategically protected the Galleon ships coming from Manila.

The festival, which ran from 10 to 17 November 2018, is considered the biggest cultural and tourism event in Acapulco. For eight days, concerts, dance recitals and other cultural activities will take place all over Acapulco. As the country guest of honor this year, Korea provided a Jazz trio and a traditional dance group for the festival. END
