Broadcast Journalist Calls On PH Ambassador

PHOTO: Ambassador to Ottawa Petronila P. Garcia welcomed ABS-CBN Broadcast Journalist Jeff Canoy who is this year’s recipient of Marshal McLuhan Fellowship, a flagship project of the Canadian Embassy in the Philippines in the field of public diplomacy on 08 November 2018.

Mr. Canoy’s selection was based on his topic entitled “Reporting from the Margins: The role of journalism in covering crises and conflict situations,” which focused on the Marawi crises.

Launched in 1997, it aimed to encourage responsible journalism in the Philippines, noting that a strong media is essential to a strong democratic society.  The recipient of the Fellowship is brought on a study tour of Canada to interact with his counterparts and discuss issues of common interest.
