Filipinos in Yangon Learn About Managing Their Finances

PHOTO: The Philippine Embassy in Yangon conducted a financial literacy seminar for members of the Filipino Community living and working in Yangon at the Wyndham Grand Hotel on 11 November 2018.

The Embassy invited Inter Pan Myanmar Regional Director Ana Victoria Opeña and Roedl & Partner Malaysia Head of Tax Priya Silvanathan as resource persons for the seminar.

Ms. Opeña discussed basic banking and budgeting and investment options. She also explained the importance of budgeting to attain financial goals. Meanwhile, Ms. Silvanathan taught the participants about taxation including how to compute their income tax.

Participants were also given an overview on how to set up their own business, starting from the creation of a business plan. Western Union closed the seminar with a presentation on their money transfer services to and from Myanmar. (Yangon PE photos)
