UAE Foreign Minister Greets PH Embassy, Community on Tolerance Day

ABU DHABI 19 November 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi participated in the National Festival of Tolerance at the Umm Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi on 09 November 2018.
UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan led the festival’s opening with the tolerance walk. The event, which was jointly organized by the Ministry of Tolerance of the United Arab Emirates, under the patronage of UAE Minister of Tolerance Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, and Etihad Aviation Group, was joined by hundreds of participants of different nationalities who walked around the park to celebrate the country’s diversity.
Ambassador to the UAE Hjayceelyn M. Quintana welcomed Sheikh Abdullah at the Philippine booth which showcased traditional songs, costumes, art and craft. She said that the Embassy, along with the Filipino Community, is honored to be participating in the event to show solidarity with the UAE in highlighting social diversity, harmony, and acceptance.
“The Philippines is the third biggest expatriate community in the UAE. We are happy to be part of the UAE’s achievements as a nation and we are committed to the principles that they are upholding,” she added.
The opening day of the week-long festival saw the participation of the Embassies of India, Pakistan, and other countries, as well as the UAE’s special olympics team. Guests were also entertained with live music by an international orchestra.
The event also held the Guinness World Record for the most number of signatures on a whiteboard, with over 1,400 people participating. END
