PH Youth Delegates Participate at 2nd ASEAN Youth Interfaith Camp

JAKARTA 06 December 2018 — Philippine youth representatives, Aladin Baui Cabutaje and Micah Irish Barroga Sales, joined other ASEAN youth in the 2nd ASEAN Youth Interfaith Camp (AYIC) from 28 October to 04 November 2018, in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Bali.
AYIC is one of the regional gatherings that aim to promote and implement the ASEAN Declaration of Culture and Prevention for a Peaceful, Inclusive, Resilient, Healthy and Harmonious Society which was adopted by the ASEAN Leaders during the 31st ASEAN Summit held in Manila, Philippines in November 2017.
The Camp was officially inaugurated during an Opening Ceremony held at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ceremony was led by Indonesian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. A.M. Fachir, and was attended by members of the diplomatic corps and other dignitaries, including Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, Ambassador Elizabeth P. Buensuceso.
After the Ceremony, the youth delegates paid a courtesy call on Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
Mr. Cabutaje is passionate about his duties as a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairman of the Philippine Province of Isabela. He is the founding president of Local Ambassadors for Youth Development Advocacy (LAYDA), which is an organization that serves youths’ interests based in Tumauini, Isabela.
Meanwhile, Ms. Sales is a registered architect and a training officer of ASEAN youth community based in Metro Manila. END
