The DOST representatives were in Brunei for the One Stop Laboratory for Global Competitiveness or OneLab Roadshow and to promote their Halal Science and Technology (S&T) Program. The delegation was headed by OneLab project leader Rosemarie S. Salazar, who is the Department’s Assistant Regional Director for Finance Administrative Support, and Technical Services.

The OneLab Project is a network of laboratories anchored on an information technology (IT) platform which broadens public access to testing and calibration services at a single touch point. It envisions to be a globally-recognized network of analytical and calibration laboratories distinguished for quality, proficient services, and ultimate customer convenience.

Following DOST’s presentation, MoH-DSS officials also provided a presentation on the history and the functions of DSS, particularly its Food Chemistry Section. The delegation was toured in the laboratories of MoH-DSS following their meeting with Bruneian officials.

The members of the Philippine delegation included Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) Officer-in-Charge and OneLab Co-Project Leader Dr. Annabelle V. Chargé d’Affaires Delfin responded that OneLab is a laudable initiative which not only promotes the Philippines and Brunei’s collaboration in the field of science and health at the bilateral level but also fosters regional cooperation via networking of participating laboratories from ASEAN Member States (AMS) and other countries outside the region.

Following Brunei, the DOST delegation will proceed to Malaysia for the next leg of their Roadshow to meet with relevant Malaysian authorities in promotion of the Project. END
