PHOTO: The Samahan ng mga Pilipino sa Cambodia (SAMAPI), with the support of the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh, started a health and wellness program to encourage Filipinos in Cambodia to keep fit and healthy.
The fitness program, where participants set to exercise through Zumba sessions, started on 11 November 2018 at the Embassy rooftop and was led by SAMAPI’s Secretary Ms. Sundee Viñas.
In her welcome remarks, Consul General Myca Fischer noted that the Embassy’s support for this activity is consistent with its gender and development agenda, which promotes, among others, the right to health of OFWs, especially women.
“The increasing prevalence of a sedentary lifestyle poses many major health risks. Kaya po kailangan nating mag-exercise (at) maging active, dahil mahirap at sobrang mahal magkasakit dito sa Cambodia,” Consul General Fischer said.
The Zumba sessions, which are free of charge, will be held every Sunday. (Phnom Penh PE photo)
