NAIROBI 04 December 2018 — The Philippine Embassy in Nairobi, led by Ambassador Uriel Norman R. Garibay, inaugurated its new Chancery in an event attended by members of the Diplomatic corps and Filipino Community on 09 November 2018.

In his speech, Ambassador Garibay cited the difficulties in finding a property that embodies the personality of the Filipino people and thanked everyone who helped in seeing this vision through. He said that the Chancery is the Philippines’ commitment not only to Kenya but also to the East African countries under its jurisdiction and the two UN Programmes namely UN Environmental Program (UNEP) and UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).

The Guest of Honor during the event was Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Political and Diplomatic Ambassador Tom Amolo, who in his speech encouraged other Embassies to follow the lead of the Philippines in acquiring a permanent facility in Kenya.

Representing the Department of Foreign Affairs, Senior Special Assistant Grace Cruz-Fabella likewise graced the occasion and expressed the Department’s desire to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador Garibay, Ambassador Amolo, and Senior Special Assistant Cruz-Fabella then proceeded with the tree planting ceremony where jacaranda saplings were planted on Embassy grounds as a sign of the two countries’ growing bond.

The Chancery was officially inaugurated with the ribbon cutting and the unveiling of the plaque. END
