PH Permanent Mission in Jakarta Joins ASEAN Women’s Circle Annual Bazaar

JAKARTA 06 December 2018 — The Permanent Mission of the Philippines to the ASEAN participated in the annual bazaar organized by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Women’s Circle of Jakarta (AWC) last 1-2 November 2018 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta.
The bazaar, wherein proceeds will go to charitable institutions in Indonesia and the AWC’s disaster relief fund, was joined by participants from the Philippines and other ASEAN Member States and ASEAN Dialogue Partner countries. More than 70 vendors showcased their products ranging from handicrafts to culinary treats.
The Philippine stall offered fashion accessories, buntal bags, and packs of Filipino food favorites like tapsilog, chicken adobo and polvoron. A Philippine business delegation led by Trade and Industry Undersecretary Nora Terrada was able to visit the Bazaar.
The AWC is composed of spouses of diplomats and officials from AMS countries. Its membership is also open to members of the Filipino community. The AWC’s Chief Patron is Madame Yasmin Fachir, spouse of the Indonesian Vice Foreign Minister Dr. Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir, while its Advisor is Datin Chan Chin Ming, spouse of ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi.
The AWC aims to promote ASEAN solidarity and friendship through various socio-cultural and related activities such as fund-raising events like the Annual Bazaar. END
