THE HAGUE 06 December 2018 — More than 20 freshmen law students from Tilburg University made a visit to the Philippine Embassy in The Hague in connection with the annual “Day to The Hague” program of Magister JFT on 06 November 2018.

Ambassador to the Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda welcomed the students and discussed the missions and visions of the Embassy as well as the Embassy profile and its officers. He also discussed Philippine-Netherlands Relations, Filipino community organizations in the Netherlands, and the different UN and international organizations in The Hague.

The Ambassador further informed the student about the Embassy’s consular services such as Assistance-to-Nationals issues, overseas voting and the Gender and Development programs of the Embassy. He also mentioned the event coinciding with the 50th anniversary on the purchase / ownership of the chancery.

The Tilburg law students in turn asked about the role the Embassy plays on the different international organizations in The Hague and how it handles conflict of laws between the Philippines and the Netherlands such as “dual citizenship”, family law, and assistance to nationals.

Magister JFT is the legal faculty association of Tilburg University for its freshmen law students to get acquainted with the political, international and diplomatic aspects of The Hague, one of which is a visit to various agencies and embassies, to learn more about their functions and structures.
