PH, Bahrain Celebrate Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

MANAMA 12 November 2018 – As part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Bahrain, the Philippine Embassy in Manama, in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), staged a classical cultural concert entitled “Konsyerto Filipino: A Celebration of Friendship and Music” at the Bahrain Cultural Hall on 04 November 2018.

The concert which featured the Musikeros, a group of singing faculty members of the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music and renowned Philippine piano virtuoso Raul M. Sunico, also featured Bahraini pianist Selma Al Algosaibi, violinist and music teacher Nida Socorro Catli, and guitarist Ramil Benito.

The Philippine School Bahrain Chorale also performed the national anthems of Bahrain and the Philippines at the start of the program and gave a special song performance after the intermission to open the second part of the concert.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver expressed hope that the concert will contribute towards further strengthening of cooperation between the Philippines and Bahrain through more people-to-people interactions that celebrate each of our unique cultures, including the love for music.

The concert was attended by over 500 guests including members of the diplomatic and international community, officials of the Bahraini government, business leaders, academic institutions, music enthusiasts and the Filipino Community. The concert ended with a photo opportunity with the performers.
