PHOTO: The Philippine team concluded its participation in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 15 October 2018.
Christian Tio led the Filipino charge with a silver medal at the men’s kiteboarding IKA Twin Tip event, where he is the only Asian representative. Mr. Tio’s victory placed the Philippines 69th out of 206 countries, a position it shares with Ireland and Hong Kong.
Other members of the Philippine team who competed include archer Nicole Tagle, who advanced to the quarterfinal of the mixed international archery event, and golfer Yuka Saso, who came close to bringing another medal for the Philippines.
According to PH delegation Chef de Mission Jonne Go, the overall performance of the PH was a huge success.
To celebrate Team PH’s success, Philippine Ambassador to Argentina Linglingay F. Lacanlale hosted a dinner in honor of the athletes on the evening of 15 October 2018.
Ambassador Lacanale also presented certificates of participation to each athlete and congratulated them for representing the Philippines, and expressed hope for the continued promotion of sports among the youth. (Buenos Aires PE photo)
