BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 06 December 2018 — In celebration of global diversity and multiculturalism, the Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam participated in the annual International Day celebrations of the Jerudong International School (JIS) on 31 October 2018.

Around 700 students and teachers of 55 different nationalities enjoyed the Philippine ice cream served at the Philippine booth. They were also treated to Philippine delicacies such as sapin-sapin, cassava cake, maja blanca, and the all-time favorite polvoron.

To highlight the rich culture of the Philippines to the students, the booth was festooned with t’nalak fabrics, children books about Philippine myths and legends and decorative materials made of Philippine indigenous materials such as capiz, acacia and nito.

Other embassies which participated in the event were Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, Canada, and Australia.

JIS International Day plays an important part in encouraging its students to be global citizens. The celebrations provide the opportunity for the students to celebrate and learn about each other’s cultures, customs and languages in a variety of activities.

The Embassy fully supports activities such as cultural and international fairs that serve as an avenue to strongly promote Filipino culture, food, and arts in Brunei Darussalam. END
