PH Consulate General in Calgary Briefs DOST on Scholarship, Partnership Opportunities in Alberta
PHOTO: The Philippine Consulate General in Calgary invited the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Philippine universities to consider the scholarship and partnership opportunities available in Alberta, Canada in a briefing conducted for DOST officials on 22 November 2018.
Deputy Consul General Zaldy B. Patron explained to Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato De La Peña, Assistant Secretary for International Cooperation Leah Buendia, and DOST-Science Education Institute's (SEI) Deputy Director Albert Marino the scholarships being offered by the University of Calgary and University of Alberta to the DOST scholars. The scholarships will be available for the undergraduate, master’s, and doctorate programs.
Consul General in Calgary Gilberto G.B. Asuque and Deputy Consul General Patron had met several times with the officials of University of Calgary and University of Alberta to promote partnerships between the Philippines and the two leading educational institutions in the province of Alberta.
As a result of the briefing, the DOST has taken note of the expertise of both Alberta-based universities in the fields of agriculture, animal science, crop science, forestry, nursing, public health, energy, engineering, health, agriculture, and food and nutrition.
The Consulate General and DOST will continue to work together to finalize the envisioned partnerships with the universities. (Calgary PCG photo)
