PH Participates in Turkish Charity Bazaar

ANKARA 07 December 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs’ Ladies Foundation (DFALF)-Ankara Chapter led the country’s participation in the 2018 Charity Bazaar organized by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spouses Solidarity Association (DMEDD) held at the Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center in Ankara on 25 November 2018.
The Philippines joins other 35 participating countries in the bazaar, aims is to raise funds for projects on children’s education and health.
It is the seventh time for the Philippines to participate in the charity event, which is also an effective platform to promote the country’s cultural, economic and public diplomacy in Turkey and various diplomatic missions in Ankara.
Items from the Philippines sold at this year’s DMEDD Charity Bazaar included kimonas, jusi barong fabrics, home decors, and accessories.
As in previous years, much sought after were the country’s pearl jewelry from Southern Philippines and dried Philippine mangoes. Filipino food products, (adobo rice toppings, biko, palabok, empanada, embutido, atchara etc.) from the Filipino Community in Ankara delighted guests and were immediately sold out.
For the first time, Philippine traditional dances of “La Jota” and “Tinikling” were performed by members of the Filipino Community in Ankara and much applauded at this year’s bazaar. Promotional materials such as “More Fun in the Philippines” posters and colorful máscaras were also displayed. END
