Mama Sita Foundation, Academy of Culinary Education Promote Filipino Cuisine in LA

LOS ANGELES 09 November 2018 – The Mama Sita Foundation (MSF), in partnership with the Academy of Culinary Education (ACE), conducted a cooking demonstration of select Filipino dishes at the ACE located in Woodland Hills, California on 03 November 2018.

ACE’s owner Directress Chef Cecilia de Castro and her graduating class served Filipino dishes using some of Mama Sita’s products such as oyster sauce, sukang tuba, and sinigang sa sampalok mix, among others.

The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles was represented by Deputy Consul General Ambrosio Brian F. Enciso III and Cultural Officer Dolor Sales. Also present during the event were food bloggers, ACE alumni, Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Los Angeles representative Rowena Namay and the Culinary Ambassador of Thai Cuisine in Los Angeles and celebrity chef Jet Tila.

MSF and Mama Sita’s Holding, Inc President Clara Lapus informed the guests that aside from promoting Mama Sita products, the Foundation has also been involved in socially-aware projects to raise the standard of living of farmers and fisherfolk by developing dedicated suppliers and buyers for its products.

She said that in this way, the company is always assured of constant and high-quality production inputs and at the same time, doing the company’s share in improving the farmers’ quality of life.

In his remarks, Deputy Consul General Enciso congratulated MSF and reiterated the Consulate General’s support in the promotion of Filipino cuisine. He also encouraged the attendees to visit more Filipino restaurants and learn more about the Philippines’ rich culinary tradition. END
