PH Embassy in Manama Conducts Post Arrival Orientation Seminar in Bahrain

MANAMA 10 December 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Manama, in partnership with Philippine Overseas Labor Office, conducted the Post Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) for newly arrived domestic workers in Bahrain at the Embassy lobby on 23 November 2018.
A total of 77 domestic workers were oriented on the culture, relevant immigration laws and regulations in Bahrain, as well as the different services and assistance provided by the Embassy to overseas Filipino workers.
Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver delivered an inspirational message to the domestic workers, recognizing their hard work and informed them that they are always welcome in the Embassy. He shared his contact number and advised the domestic workers to call him directly if they are in distress.
Consul Maria Paz Cortes shared relevant information on the culture and relevant laws and regulations in Bahrain. Meanwhile, Ms. Lorna A. Bacolong discussed POLO’s programs and services including the rights and obligations of the domestic workers as stipulated in their employment contracts.
Vice-Consul Joaquin Ricardo Aragon discussed the different services of the Embassy for the welfare of the Filipinos staying in Bahrain. Welfare Officer Redina C. Manlapaz presented the OWWA programs and services while Mr. Edre Bayno and Ms. Alistair Pamela Sicat presented their Social Security System and Pag-IBIG programs and services, respectively.
Labor Attaché Vicente M. Cabe gave the closing remarks by thanking all the participants, and the Bahrain manpower agencies as well as the Bahrain Recruiters Society, for their cooperation and continued support for the program. END
