MANAMA 11 December 2018 – Eighty-one formerly out of status Filipinos were assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Manama’s Financial Assistance Program for Filipinos, and were issued Flexi Visas by Bahrain’s Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) at the Sitra Branch of the LMRA on 28 November 2018.

This is the sixth batch of beneficiaries of the program, who received their Blue Cards and financial assistance from the Embassy for the payment of the application fee for their Flexi Visas that allows the holder to have multiple employers, providing more opportunities for the Blue Card holder.

The Embassy also shouldered the payment of their registration fees and two months of the required monthly fees.

Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver continued to remind the workers that the partnership between the Bahrain and Philippine governments provides a new opportunity for them to work legally in Bahrain.

The Ambassador also reminded them to take on the responsibility of maintaining their legal status by keeping their monthly payments up to date after the Embassy paid for the first two months of their Flexi Visas.

To date, a total of 402 Filipino workers have benefitted from the joint program of the LMRA and the Embassy.

The Embassy and the LMRA are likewise working on the regularization of former domestic workers who are eligible to apply for the Flexi Visa.

At present, the LMRA is processing the applications of former household workers found to be eligible to apply, particularly those that have already complied with the required medical examination. END
