PH Embassy in Damascus Attends Premiere of Damascus Pipe Organ Week

PHOTO: The Third Damascus Pipe Organ Week successfully premiered at the St. Anthony Church in the Syrian capital on 18 November 2018, attended by Philippine Embassy in Damascus Charge d’ Affaires, e.p. Alex V. Lamadrid and Syria’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Ali Moubbayed.

In his welcome address, Fr. Azar acknowledged the attendance of Charge d’ Affaires Lamadrid and Deputy Minister Moubbayed, noting the importance of such musical performances to provide relief to the troubled spirits of the parishioners, Filipinos included, who have been affected by the nearly one decade war in Syria.

The pipe organ in St. Anthony’s church in Damascus is Syria’s oldest, having been brought from Austria by the Franciscan friars in 1937.
