“Oro, Plata, Mata” Featured in PH Embassy’s Cinema Filipino at the University of Lisbon

PHOTO: The film screening of “Oro, Plata, Mata” was featured at Cinema Filipino, an inaugural event organized by the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon and the University of Lisbon - of Asian Studies) on 22 November 2018.

“Cinema Filipino is a cultural diplomacy activity of the Philippine Embassy that aims to utilize Philippine cinema as a medium for raising awareness about Filipino culture to the Portuguese.  This activity is also a means of fostering understanding and building bridges between the Philippines and Portugal,” Ambassador to Portugal Celia Anna M. Feria said during her opening remarks.

The film provides some insight into aspects of Philippine society, and the impact brought about by the Second World War and the Japanese occupation of the Philippines.

The film showing gave members of the university not only a critical understanding of Filipino society and culture, but also expressions of various cultural themes and socio-political influences on the Filipino experience in a particular time period.
