New PH Ambassador Meets the Filipino Community in Cairo

CAIRO 11 December 2018 – Ambassador to Egypt Sulpicio M. Confiado met with more than 300 Filipinos from Cairo and Alexandria, including members of 20 Filipino Community organizations, at the Holiday Inn in Cairo on 30 November 2018.
Ambassador Confiado highlighted the importance of unity among Filipinos, the uniqueness of Filipino culture, and the role of overseas Filipinos in the development of the country. He called upon them to promote a positive image of the country and to promote Philippine culture.
He informed them of ongoing efforts to improve consular services, economic and cultural diplomacy, and the protection of overseas Filipinos. He advised them to ensure that their passport, visas, and related documents are always updated and valid.
The 155th anniversary of the birth of Andres Bonifacio was also observed through a film viewing to remind them about his contribution to nationhood and with an interactive exchange on the life and work of the Supreme Leader of the Katipunan.
The Filipino Community was also informed about the 18-day campaign to end violence against women (VAW) through discussions and videos on combating VAW. END
