PH Embassy in Nairobi Conducts Consular Mission in Dar Es Salaam

NAIROBI 04 January 2019 — As part of providing consular services to Filipinos under its jurisdiction, the Philippine Embassy in Nairobi conducted a consular mission in Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania on 02 December, with a total of 30 applications for passport renewal, three applications for civil registry, and three applications for notarials processed.

During the consular mission, Consul Francis Maynard S. Maleon, Embassy’s Gender and Develpment Focal Point, discussed with the passport applicants the relevance of the Philippine 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women. Fliers on Republic Act No. 9262 also known as Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004 2018 were also distributed in support of the Philippine Commission on Women and as part of the Embassy’s effort to disseminate information on VAWC and to create awareness about the law among the members of Filipino Community in Tanzania.

After the consular mission, the consular team was also invited by the Filipino Community members to attend their gathering. During the said event, Filipino Community Board members presented a token of appreciation to Consul Maleon and to Ms. Jessery S. De Puyart for their commitment and services to the Filipino community in Tanzania.

The consular mission was successfully conducted with the support and cooperation of the members of the Filipino community in Tanzania led by Filipino Community Board President Emmanuel Hipe in cooperation with Best Western Hotel Manager Roderick Bernal. END
