Sweden’s Lund University Students Explore Educ, Technical Cooperation

MALMÖ 04 January 2019 — Filipino graduate students from the Lund University in Sweden proposed to Ambassador to Norway Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia several opportunities for technology transfer, during a dialogue she hosted in Malmö, Sweden on 03 November 2018.

The Ambassador briefed the students on the initiatives of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration, as well as the programs and activities of the Philippine Embassy in Oslo.

The students shared their experiences and their insights on the reasons for the success of the Swedish educational system.  

The Ambassador invited the students to present proposals on educational exchanges and technology transfer, including short term visits and joint research projects that would contribute to the country’s development. 

She encouraged the students to return to the Philippines after they finish their studies and establish research or manufacturing companies that would fully utilize their expertise. Most of them indicated that they would like to contribute to the scientific development of the country through technology transfer. 

Lund University is located in Southern Sweden. According to Professor Antonio Maranon, there are more than 100 Filipino students in the university. 

Also present during the meeting were Ms. Rosalina Lowoc Persson, President of Sama Sama sa Lund and Mr. Ricardo Cruz, one of the founders of the Filipino Christian Community in Malmö. END
